Taiwan Tatler Celebrates 2017 Gen.T List

Taiwan’s Future Leaders Gather At 2017 Gen.T List Launch

[TAIPEI – 11 September 2017] – Taiwan Tatler hosted a private dinner at GMT Gourmet Kitchen in the Grand Mayfull Hotel Taipei to celebrate the unveiling of its 2017 Gen.T list on September 1.

This year’s Gen.T listers include Sega Cheng, Cyndii Yu and Janice Chiao, who were present at the event alongside Grace Wang, Sean Hu, Idan Chiang and Chia-Hui Lu – members of the judging panel of industry experts called the “Tatler Tribe”, who helped finalise this year’s list.

Tamara Lamunière, Head of Gen.T Asia, was also in attendance to express her congratulations to the honourees. “Gen.T is a platform to present future leaders who have fostered and enhanced the development in Asia,” she said. “This celebration is an ideal place for them to mingle and hopefully create blossoming relationships that lead to collaboration.”

During the dinner, Taiwan Tatler also announced that it had made a donation to the Angel Heart Family Social Welfare Foundation on behalf of the 2017 Gen.T listers by purchasing tickets to its charity concert for all 50 people on the list.

Three 2017 Gen.T listers were invited to speak to guests, which Taiwan Tatler streamed on Facebook Live. First up was Chia-Ying Hsieh (pictured above), founder of financial website “Looking back at history, every generation must have a dreamer whose goal is to shape their era. That’s what Gen.T is all about,” she said.

Tahan Lin (pictured below), chief executive officer of crowdfunding consultancy Backer-Founder, talked about how crowdfunding has been a major driver of innovation, and how one can learn from failure. Last but not least, Daniel Seah (below), CEO of visual effects company Digital Domain, shared his personal journey to success and how youth can sometimes trump experience.

All dinner guests were invited to join the exclusive afterparty, held at the hotel’s Cocoon Poolside Bar, where they were also joined by several 2016 Gen.T listers, including Sophia Su, director of Sophia Ritz, artist Joyce Ho, Felicia Chang, vice president of operations at Nicole+Felicia, and Jennifer Huang, executive director of The Westin Tashee Resort in Taoyuan.

Video artist Wan-Jen Chen, a 2017 Gen.T lister, exhibited his latest work, “The Still Point of the Turning World,” on screens throughout the party. Speaking on his creative concept, Wan-Jen Chen said he wanted to show daily life in a special way. Whether people were riding bikes, swimming in a pool, or walking on the street, they were all actors in his film.

Tzu-Chieh Shen (pictured below), musician and 2016 Gen.T lister, performed classical music with Japanese band Quatuor B, which had the crowd on their feet.

At the afterparty, Hublot showcased several of its stunning watches to the Gen.T listers and guests. Pernod Ricard provided the wine, including the classic G.H. Mumm champagne. The Jacob’s Creek chardonnay and shiraz were also two of the favourites among guests. As the party reached its climax, Pernod Ricard brand ambassador Rax Ho performed sabrage—the ceremonial art of opening a champagne bottle with a sabre—on the limited-edition G. H. Mumm champagne.
