Tatler Asia is delighted to announce the appointment of Sophia Liao as the new Managing Director of Tatler Taiwan, effective immediately. Sophia’s 20-year career in the luxury media sector, including her leadership roles at Condé Nast, brings unparalleled expertise to Tatler’s leadership team.
Sophia’s impressive career at Condé Nast includes serving as Vice President of Condé Nast Taiwan & China, Managing Director of Condé Nast Taiwan, and President of Condé Nast China. She played a pivotal role in launching Condé Nast's operations in Taiwan and China, driving the brand’s success across multiple markets.
During her tenure at Condé Nast Taiwan, Sophia led a groundbreaking transformation from a print-centric business model to a thriving multimedia platform in 2007, well ahead of industry trends. Under her guidance, the non-print sector experienced substantial financial growth, solidifying the company’s future. In her leadership role over the China business, Sophia championed innovation and social media engagement, leading to a remarkable turnaround and record-breaking revenue.
"Sophia's extensive experience in media and community development aligns perfectly with Tatler’s vision for growth in Taiwan," said Michel Lamunière, Chairman & CEO of Tatler Asia. "Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand and evolve in this market."
This leadership transition follows the departure of Eponine Chen, who has stepped down as Managing Director for personal reasons. Eponine’s tenure was marked by significant commercial and audience growth, strengthening Tatler’s presence in Taiwan. "We are deeply grateful for Eponine’s contributions and dedication to Tatler Taiwan," Lamunière added. "We wish her the very best in her future endeavours."
Sophia joins as a business partner, underscoring Tatler Asia’s long-term commitment to the Taiwan market and reflecting the potential for the brand's continued success and growth.
